European Legislation & its impact on UK Companies:

The Pollution Prevention and Control Act of 2000, brought the European IPPC Directive 96/61/EC into UK law, and the Environment Agency and DEFRA are still working to bring in all the Process Guidance Notes and other documents.
The Physical Agents (Noise) Directive 2003/10/EC, has recently been enacted as the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, and replaced the previous regulations from February 2006.
The 5th edition of the Code of Practice for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, with amendments in 2003 & 2004, was finally published in 2005, along with the new version of EH40. These modifications update the regulations and introduce a new concept of Workplace Exposure Limits.
